Russia’s largest cities are also her least-well churched. The C&MA has initiated six new church plants in five key cities in the last four years. Our key cities include four of Russia’s five largest cities, beginning with the capital city of Moscow. U.S. C&MA missionaries Alan and Trish Eggleton, J.B. and Iris Hecock, and Steve and Christy Volstad are committed full-time to team ministry, along with three other non-U.S. Alliance missionaries and our Russian colleagues in these plants. This is a costly venture, with so many missionaries concentrated in these expensive cities, and with the new churches renting space as they struggle to take on support of their pastors. But it is a venture that is proving worthwhile as the Evangelical church is gaining a more positive image and impact in Russian society.
